廣達董事長林百里認為，理想與現實之間有距離，美國很難做到中國、台灣提供的低廉製造成本，而且電子組裝供應鏈是好幾千個零件才做成一個產品，供應鏈不容易移動，就算3C產品全部美國製造，他也認為不一定能增加美國就業率，因為現在許多工廠都自動化，需要的人力不比從前。

川普為了提高製造業返美意願無所不用其極，美國媒體報導，川普尋求可以在宣誓就職後立刻以行政命令提高所有物品關稅5％的方式，雖然仍不確定川普要的是關稅提升至5％，還是在既有關稅之外額外徵收5個百分點的稅，還是一切只是測試風向，但已經引起全球關注。

仁寶總經理陳瑞聰的看法也與林百里、童子賢差不多，他認為製造業是否會移回美國生產仍值得商榷，移回去的生產成本偏高，如果硬是要說，已經分眾化發展的筆電返美製造更划不來，像iPhone這種量大、產品單純才可能靠自動化降低生產成本，達到在美國生產的目的；他進一步認為，美國政府一定得要有配套，比如說稅的優惠，仁寶的客戶願意才會願意回去生產，他相信面對客戶合理需求，仁寶會「共存共榮」。
